Welcome to Our 5th & 6th Grade Classroom

In our fifth and sixth grade classroom, students build a strong foundation of faith, expand their academic knowledge, and grow in independence. Our goal is to provide the very best Christian education for your child while preparing them for the grade levels ahead. Students study God's Word through Christ-Light, catechism, and hymnology, deepening their understanding of Scripture and their Savior.

Across the day, students explore the world around them through language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and more. Math, science, and social studies are departmentalized, giving students the chance to be challenged by different teachers and teaching styles as they prepare for the transition toward middle school. We thank God for the growth He has blessed our school with, and we pray for His continued guidance in the years ahead.

Mr. Peter Mathwig

5TH & 6TH GRADE TEACHER

Mr. Mathwig graduated from Martin Luther College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Secondary Education in 2005, followed by a Master of Science in Education in 2014. Over the past 20+ years, he has had the joy of teaching and coaching in Lutheran schools across the country, and he now serves here at Crown of Life Lutheran. He taught and coached for twelve years at St. Peter in Weyauwega, WI, then spent eight years teaching high school math at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, FL. That range of experience has given him a heart for helping students grow both in the classroom and beyond it.

In his free time, Mr. Mathwig enjoys watching and playing all kinds of sports. One of his favorite Bible passages is Proverbs 3:5-6, which reminds him to always trust in the Lord, no matter what life may bring. He treasures his faith and looks forward to partnering with families to help their children grow this year.
